Saumyaa Jha

My name is Saumyaa Jha, studying in class 6. In my book, I have read that every Nepali citizen can travel within the country freely. But unfortunately, it is not practiced in Nepal. Will anyone please suggest me where can I complain about my problem? I am tortured and I am not able to enjoy my rights provided in the Constitution of Nepal.

The greatest festival DASHAIN ended without any fun. It is celebrated as get together festival in Nepal these days. I also had planned to go to Rajbiraj, my home town. My grandfather, grandmother, elder father and elder mother lives there. My grandfather is 80 years old and he is not able to travel. So, this time I decided to go there and get blessing with him. Unfortunately, I could not.  All the roads and highways are blocked.

Through television, I knew that the people of Terai are fighting for their rights. They are discriminated, they are called as dhoti and are treated roughly. They are fighting for equality but the government has not listened to them. It has become two and half months. When their voice was ignored, they made their AANDOLAN strong but they were shot by police. 45 persons are dead. Some children were also shot by police. One child was returning from tuition and he was shot by police. I have heard that the aandolankari has blocked all the border between Nepal and India.

In fact, the blocked made my Dashain tasteless. I could not eat properly. Dashain is a festival of eating delicious food, wearing new clothes and travelling to different places to meet our relatives but I could not.  Whenever, I demanded something tasty to eat my mother says-there is no gas. When I request my father to go somewhere, he says there is no petrol in bike, when I request to buy new clothing, my father and mother say wait for sometime as there is nothing new in market.

This time, I wanted to meet my cousin Saurav, who studies engineering abroad, as he has come to Rajbiraj but I could not. We both decided to have fun together. He had promised me that he would come to Kathmandu and we would have fun. But my brother is in Rajbiraj and I am in Kathmandu. We both are missing each other .  How can i go there or how will he come ?

Not only I am facing this problem, all Nepali are facing this problem but our government is sleeping. Our government is killing us. In Terai, it has been two and half month, children are not able to go to school but also no matter we people die or alive, our government is enjoying.

I know you all are facing the same problem which I am facing. So, better keep hand in hand, raise voice against this torture given by the government and try to awake our government.
